A Note from the Designer

Hello! My name is Ariel and I am the person behind The Clay Edit. A quick overview of my background – I have a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Management as well as a Master’s degree in International Relations and Security. My career paths have taken me from Advertising to Government Contracting to now… Jewelry Making. Confused yet? So are my parents.

I’m someone who has always needed a creative outlet and I first began working with clay as a way to unwind after work. I’ve dabbled in everything from painting, to woodworking, to furniture building, to home renovations. I finally landed on polymer clay and it stuck. I love how versatile polymer clay is and I find the process of working with clay to be therapeutic. There is something very satisfying about watching an idea come to life from concept to completion (and much quicker than building an entire kitchen island!).

I’ve been fortunate to do a considerable amount of traveling over the past decade. Design elements from around the world find their way into my everyday life, whether that be home décor, clothing, or accessories. And the items created for The Clay Edit are no exception.

I am probably the worst person to work in sales because I will be the first to tell you… you don’t need most products. And you certainly don’t need my earrings. One of the reasons I left advertising was because the entire industry was built on one premise – convincing people that they were “less than”, or would never achieve happiness, without the purchase of [insert product]. So, I decided to get into government contracting because that was a lot less controversial...ha!

While you 100% don’t need my earrings, I hope that they give you a little confidence boost should you choose to wear them :)

I don’t know what the next 6 months look like. I don’t know what the next year looks like. All I know is that this chapter feels really good. And I’m so thankful to have you along for the ride.

All my best,
Ariel
